For San Antonio Spurs forward Kawhi Leonard, he’s not concerned about the things he can’t control. Instead, he’s looking to put all his attention on helping his own team score an NBA title.

In an interview with Mike Finger of the San Antonio-Express News, Leonard was asked about his take on several other teams this offseason reloading with top talents and retooling in hopes of getting a bigger edge in the competition.

“They have to figure out how their systems are going to work,” Leonard said. “So if I’m focused on a different team, it’s just taking away from what we’re doing here. We have to make sure we’re the best basketball team, and that’s what I’m focused on.”

Known as a player who would rather let his play on the floor speak for himself rather than run his mouth, Kawhi Leonard’s reply stayed true to his character.

While other Western Conference contenders like the Houston Rockets and the Oklahoma City Thunder added superstar talents to their respective squads, the Spurs had a relatively quiet offseason that’s highlighted by a Rudy Gay acquisition and the signing of an extension deal by LaMarcus Aldridge. Manu Ginobili also agreed to return for one more season, but it’s a microscopic move that created a tiny ripple when compared to the transactions made by other teams.

Kawhi Leonard, who was named to the All-NBA First Team last season, still needs all the help he can get, however, as getting to the Finals just got tougher.
