Manu Ginobili personally announced his retirement on Monday afternoon. The Argentinian national had a decorated career in the NBA, earning four championships with the San Antonio Spurs. As a result of Manu's retirement, however, the Spurs are now facing a $2.5 million salary cap hit, according to a report from ESPN's Bobby Marks.

Like Tim Duncan in 2016, San Antonio will place the contract of Manu Ginobili on waivers despite the guard announcing his retirement. The Spurs will incur a $2.5M cap hit and now have 13 guaranteed contracts. Ginobili has earned $130M since entering the league in 2002.

Without a doubt, Ginobili will go down as one of the greatest players in Spurs history. In fact, he's already a legend in Silver and Black lore — for good reason.

The Euro-step that everyone imitates to this day? Yeah… Manu.

“The Big 3?” Again, Manu (with Tim Duncan and Tony Parker).

All in all, Ginobili, now 41 years of age, played 23 seasons of professional basketball, beginning with stops in Italy and Argentina before coming to San Antonio via the 57th overall pick in the 2002 NBA Draft.

Ginobili played in a whopping 1,057 games over the course of his career in the NBA, averaging 13.3 points on 44.7 percent shooting from the field (36.9 percent from beyond the arc), 3.8 assists, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.3 steals in 25.4 minutes per outing.
