As it turns out, ESPN Insider Adrian Wojnarowski wasn't wrong when he predicted recently-bought-out forward/center Greg Monroe would receive plenty of attention coming into this trade deadline. In fact, the San Antonio Spurs and the Washington Wizards have added themselves to the race for his services, according to NBA.com's David Aldridge.

Monroe had initially received interest from the Boston Celtics, who are looking for that final piece to get them over the top of the Toronto Raptors and the Cleveland Cavaliers to take full control of the East once and for all.

The New Orleans Pelicans had also been making a strong push for his services, using the hometown connection as one of the main lures for the Louisiana-born big man.

Despite a poor reputation for defense (mostly stemming from the Jason Kidd-led Milwaukee Bucks), Monroe is a capable big man that plays the power forward as his natural position.

A strong lefty with good touch around the basket using either hand while having a smooth mid-range jumper, Monroe is one of the few left of a dying breed of natural back-to-the-basket players in this league.

The Spurs could use a frontcourt mate for LaMarcus Aldridge as they re-shuffle the pieces of their puzzle, while the Wizards could benefit of another scoring presence in the absence of John Wall and in the midst of what's been a down year for center Marcin Gortat.

Monroe won't be short of suitors in the coming days, but he will have the final say in which team he chooses to join — preferring to play for one with playoff aspirations.
