The San Antonio Spurs have been amazing this year even without their star player Kawhi Leonard. Unlike most teams, the Spurs can get by in the tough Western Conference with their spectacular depth and head coach Gregg Popovich. In fact, the Spurs have evolved from the previous edition that features the big three of Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, and Manu Ginobili.

Nowadays, Duncan is retired, Parker has provided steady minutes from the bench and is now out of his prime, and Ginobili is just helping the Spurs in any way that he can. This gives the other players room to fill in the gaps during games, initiating an old-school fundamental style of team-ball at its finest. Whether you find it enjoyable or not, this is how the Spurs have sustained success for over 20 years as a world-class organization.

On Monday night, though, the Spurs proved that their players are capable of performing highlight plays just like their former trio. Against the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday night, Kyle Anderson performed an incredible play by saving the ball from out of bounds and throwing an alley-oop to Davis Bertans for the slam.

With this play, the Spurs are beginning to usher in a new era that includes Anderson, Bertans, and many other younger players on their roster. Evidently, this play is a bit surprising to see coming from a well-disciplined Spurs team. The Spurs are currently sixth seed in the postseason right now and could actually be in danger of falling to one of the playoffs lower spots. However after getting a win against the Grizzlies, this highlight play shows that the Spurs should never be taken lightly.
