After suing the NFL for an unfair hiring process for minorities, Brian Flores finds himself with the Pittsburgh Steelers in an assistant role. It's been a roller coaster of a time for Flores, as he hopes to become a head coach in the league again one day. Now, Art Rooney weighs in on the decision to hire the Miami Dolphins' former head coach.

According to Pro Football Talk, the Steelers' owner claims, “We hired Brian because we think he is a qualified coach and will be an asset to us.” Pittsburgh has an elite-level defense and adding Brian Flores to the coaching staff provides a major boost to an already great unit. Rooney continues to explain:

“You know, the lawsuit can create an awkward situation at times. But, irrespective of the lawsuit, we remain committed — I remain committed — to improving the situation in every way we can, and we’ve been working hard to do that.” – Steelers' owner Art Rooney.

The Steelers are set up nicely for the 2022 season. Although they have a noticeable hole at quarterback, Pittsburgh is bound to find a way to remain competitive. Furthermore, Rooney doesn't want Flores' lawsuit to take anything away from his team, per Pro Football Talk.  “I can’t really comment on the lawsuit itself. That's something that we agree that he'll pursue his end of it, we'll pursue our end of it and that's sort of going to happen outside the building.”

So, at the very least, Brian Flores will have a considerable role with a sports franchise. The Steelers hope to remain competitive in a tough AFC North and Flores' expertise could be enough to help Pittsburgh surprise their divisional rivals.
