Cameron Sutton has been in the NFL for seven seasons now, and last season was the first time that he wasn't playing for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Sutton played college football at Tennessee and he was drafted in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Steelers. He played in Pittsburgh for six seasons before spending last year with the Detroit Lions. Sutton ended up being released after the season after a warrant was out for his arrest due to a domestic violence case. Now, Sutton is going back to the Steelers.

“Steelers are indeed expected to sign CB Cam Sutton to a one-year deal for the vet minimum, sources confirm to ESPN,” Brooke Pryor said in a tweet. “Sutton is in the building in Pittsburgh this morning. He was released by the Lions earlier this offseason after an arrest warrant was issued for domestic battery.”

Sutton is certainly battling some adversity right now, but he is focusing on handling it in the best way possible.

“Adversity strikes everyone in life,” Sutton said, according to a tweet from Brooke Pryor. “So it's all about how you handle it, how you necessarily go through those phases, and just knowing who you are individually, not letting someone else dim you a light.”

Cameron Sutton did reach a legal resolution, according to a report from Greg Auman. He is required to go through a mental health evaluation and he could have to go through treatment as well.

Legal resolution for former Lions cornerback Cameron Sutton, who has entered into a pretrial diversion program in Tampa on the misdemeanor battery charge that led to his release in March, per court records,” Greg Auman said in a tweet. “He's required to undergo a mental health evaluation, possible treatment.”

Now, Sutton is going back to where things all started for him: Pittsburgh.

Sutton did have a career high in tackles last season in Detroit as he racked up 65 total. His previous high was 52. He also added one forced fumble and one interception last season for the Lions. Sutton and Detroit ended up making it all the way to the NFC Championship game, but they lost to the San Francisco 49ers. The secondary was a weakness for the Lions all season long.

Sutton realizes that there might be some narratives out there about him now, but he isn't worrying about them.

“… I'm never worried about a narrative,” Sutton added. “I'm never worried about what necessarily people say because obviously more than likely they don't know me more than anybody else. You know what I mean? And again, it gets back to just your foundation, your morals, who you are individually as a human being and just what you stand on. Holding my head high. Again, everybody goes through adversity, everybody goes through things in their life that can change in both directions. So it's all about how you stand on that and what you do from that. And like I said,I'm ready to keep moving in the right direction. Everything else will keep falling in line and we just keep moving from there.”

Cameron Sutton is very familiar with the Steelers after spending six years in Pittsburgh, and now he is going back. There shouldn't be much of a transition for him as he is already very familiar with the team, and he should be able to pick up right where he left off.

This is a helpful pickup for Pittsburgh as they are getting a cornerback back on the squad, and Sutton will be able to give them some help in the secondary. The Steelers are known for their defense, and they are hoping to put together a good unit next year.

The Steelers are going to be an interesting team to watch next season as there will be some new faces at important positions. Pittsburgh has consistently been a solid, above .500 team in recent years, and it will be interesting to see if that trend continues or changes now that they have made some significant roster moves.

Pittsburgh's situation at quarterback is certainly the most intriguing aspect of the team right now as Russell Wilson and Justin Fields, two new pickups, are battling things out for the starting job. Both guys have a lot to prove, and maybe a new team is what they need.

Now, the Steelers have added Cameron Sutton back to the squad with their latest roster move. He is being reunited with his Pittsburgh teammates and coaches.
