James Conner has been unable to avoid injuries this season, and his latest one may prevent him from playing in the Pittsburgh Steelers' final game of the year. According to Brooke Pryor, Conner is unsure of his status for Week 17 versus the Baltimore Ravens due to a quad injury.

Conner left Sunday's game against the New York Jets with what was being diagnosed as a quad injury. The Steelers' starting running back was unable to return to the game as Pittsburgh fell to the hapless Jets.

After sustaining the quad injury, Conner underwent an MRI and is awaiting the results. Depending on the results, Pittsburgh could be inclined to start Benny Snell or Jaylen Samuels in Week 17.

Before the quad injury, Conner has also dealt with a shoulder injury that was determined to be affecting his AC joint. As a result of the shoulder ailment, the Pittsburgh product was forced to miss five games with the Steelers.

Altogether, Conner has been sidelined for 10 games in his first three seasons in the NFL. Due to injuries, Conner hasn't been as productive in 2019 with 464 yards and four touchdowns on the ground.

Just last year, Conner did a formidable job replacing Le'Veon Bell as the workhorse back in Pittsburgh. Last season, Conner contributed 1,470 yards from scrimmage and 13 touchdowns for the Steelers.

Over the past two seasons, the third-year running back has flashed potential as a starter in the NFL. But at the same time, the best ability is availability in the NFL.

The Steelers are in a must-win situation in Week 17 versus the Ravens due to their embarrassing defeat to the Jets. Therefore, the possible absence of Conner could prove to be detrimental to Pittsburgh's playoff hopes.
