Former Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell is putting football in the rear-view mirror as he sets off on his next career endeavor: professional boxing. Ahead of his fight with former NFL running back Adrian Peterson, Bell took some time to reflect on his football career and even shared one of his all-time biggest regrets from his time in the league. Via Instagram, Bell expressed remorse over his controversial decision to hold out from the 2018 NFL season, after which he never shined in the same way.

“The NFL has done great things for me, & I truly appreciated every single year of my NFL journey … obviously, I (we, whoever) wish things would’ve played out differently in 2018, like if I legit had a time machine to go back to 2018, that would be soo litttt 🔥 for soo many reasons but I don’t … all I can do, all WE can do is keep moving forward with life,” said Bell via Instagram.

Bell admitted that he wished things played out differently in 2018 with the Steelers when he opted against playing in hopes of getting a better contract. The Steelers wanted Bell to play the 2018 campaign under the franchise tag, though the star running back was adamant about getting a long-term extension.

Of course, he ended up signing with the New York Jets on a huge five-year deal, of which he only ended up playing a bit more than one season before he was released. After a short stint with the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Bell declared he will not be playing football in 2022, and is fully committed to his career in the boxing ring.

Fans will get to see Le'Veon Bell's foray into boxing when he locks horns with AP on July 30 in what should be a highly-entertaining affair.
