Baseball has a long list of unwritten rules and football also has a share of its own, though it’s not often as talked about. The exception is probably this week, after Pittsburgh Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey called out the Detroit Lions for what he labeled as unsportsmanlike actions.

Near the end of Pittsburgh’s 20-15 win over Detroit on Sunday, the Steelers had the ball and were merely juicing up the remaining 48 seconds on the clock by taking a kneel, but Lions tackles A'Shawn Robinson and Akeem Spence decided to exhaust what remains of their adrenaline by trying to fire off the ball.

Per Jeremy Fowler of ESPN:

“You have to show sportsmanship,” Pouncey told ESPN. “You just lost the game. We're taking a knee. What are you trying to prove right now? If anybody's playing [dirty], that's dirty s— right there. They literally tried to attack me, come off 100 miles per hour. I ain't going for that … Do it during the game. You want to do it while we're taking a knee? It's a general rule of sportsmanship. You don't do that type of s—.”

This escalated into a skirmish on the field that led to Robinson getting an ejection for punching Steelers guard Ramon Foster.

Three Lions players in D.J. Hayden, Cornelius Washington and Jeremiah Valoaga, also left the sidelines to join the fray and could be facing penalties.

Pouncey and the Steelers got the last laugh as they take home their sixth victory of the season, while the Lions were left scratching their heads after suffering their third consecutive setback.
