The Pittsburgh Steelers definitely looked like they might remain undefeated until the end of the regular season. It felt totally possible when their record stood 11-0 with 5 games to go. However, head coach Mike Tomlin and his men have been on a downward spiral as of late, losing three straight games in the month of December to account for an 11-3 tally through Week 15 proceedings.

Their recent struggles as a unit eventually garnered them a spot in the league record books, albeit for the wrong reasons.

According to Elias Sports Bureau via Newsweek:

“The Steelers are only the third team in NFL history to lose three consecutive games after starting 11-0 after the Los Angeles Rams in 1969 and the New Orleans Saints 40 years later.”

After 11 straight victories to start the season, the Steelers succumbed at the hands of the streaking Washington Football Team in a Week 13 tilt via a 23-17 defeat. In the following game against the Buffalo Bills, the Steelers remained sloppy on both ends of the floor and failed to contain opposing offenses despite having one of the best defenses in the NFL.

The Week 14 encounter between the two AFC teams eventually went in the Bills' favor by way of a 26-15 victory. The Steelers were looking to finally get back on track in their Week 15 match against the lowly Joe Burrow-less Cincinnati Bengals. However, they were stunned anew as they failed to notch a single point in the first half of the game. The deep hole eventually buried the Steelers until the final whistle as they lost on a 27-17 outcome.

The Pittsburgh-based squad still sits atop the AFC North with an 11-3 record, now one game ahead of the Cleveland Browns at 10-4.
