Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry and Charlotte Hornets forward Miles Bridges have been named the NBA players of the week for week one of the 2021-22 season.

Steph had impressive week one stats. He averaged 31 points, nine rebounds and seven assists.

Bridges also had a remarkable week, notching 25 points per game on top of eight rebounds and two assists.

Curry and Bridges led their respective teams to a 3-0 opening week.

Stephen Curry was the anchor of the Warriors’ opening week success. He started the week with a triple-double (21points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists) as he beat LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers. Curry had a 45-point game where he went off for 25 points in the first quarter against the Los Angeles Clippers. He then finished his week with a 27-point, seven-rebound, 10-assist game against the Sacramento Kings.

Miles Bridges got most of the credit for the Charlotte Hornets starting 3-0. He had 13 points, eight rebounds, four-assist and three steals versus the Indiana Pacers. He picked up his scoring after the opener and had a 30-point performance while grabbing seven rebounds against the Cleveland Cavaliers. In his last game of the week, he had a 32-point, nine-rebound, two-assist, two-steal performance against the NBA Champion favorites, Brooklyn Nets.

Both Curry and Bridges will look to continue their success. If Curry keeps up this play and the Warriors keep winning games, there’s a good chance he wins MVP.
