Suns add Mehmet Okur to improve and polish the skills of their young bigs

Mehmet Okur was one of the more skilled big men during his prime years with the Utah Jazz.

A former champion with the Detroit Pistons and an All-Star as a member of the Jazz back in 2007, the Turkish center played in a more fluid fashion than others of his size.

A such, the Phoenix Suns have opted to tap his services and act a player development coach this season, per team report.

Alex Len, Dragan Bender, and Marquese Chriss are sure to benefit under his tutelage.

The 6-foot-11 Okur was one of the better shooting big men in his prime. In the 2008-2009 season, he shot the ball at a 44% clip from long distance. He averaged 13.5 points and 7.0 rebounds in his 10-year career.

He was a former teammate of Suns coach Earl Watson back in their Utah days.
