Strangely enough, the Phoenix Suns, the defending Western Conference champions, are flying under the radar to start the season. With the more star-studded squads beefing up their rosters, Chris Paul and company have been left quite unnoticed.

But perhaps that's exactly what they want.

Since the arrival of Paul and coach Monty Williams, the Suns have developed their own brand of culture. In fact, CP3 even made a bold admission about it.

Via Chris Haynes of Yahoo! Sports:

“Man, this is probably one of the best locker rooms that I’ve been in my whole career. Because we have young guys that are leaders and everybody leads in their own different ways. We communicate, we talk. It’s a real family over here. You celebrate the guys that got paid this summer.”

This comes just days after the much-ballyhooed spat between Anthony Davis and Dwight Howard of the Los Angeles Lakers. Many expressed concern (or laughs) that the team was already having drama with the stacked lineup.

Paul saluting the Suns' culture could also rub his former teams the wrong way, particularly the Los Angeles Clippers and Houston Rockets, where he enjoyed relative success. Let's not forget as well that he also went to the NBA Playoffs with the New Orleans Hornets and the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Is he saying that his former teams weren't a real family? Probably not. But his comments were still pretty telling.

Winning changes everything, as they say. So perhaps Chris Paul, who was this close to winning his first NBA title last season, is just feeling extra proud of his time with the Suns.
