A number of Phoenix Suns players took to the diamond and participated in JaVale McGee's charity softball game along with other celebrities on Wednesday, and it was Chris Paul who ended up winning MVP honors. True to his image as a crafty individual, Paul revealed how he was able to get what he wanted on the field, and it involves the poor defense of Suns teammate Mikal Bridges.

Chris Paul said the gameplan en route to an MVP performance was seeing where Mikal Bridges was and hitting it at him.

“I think he thinks because the Diamondbacks had to have a Mikal Bridges Day that it was going to translate to his game but it obviously didn’t. Mikal was trash.”

Paul was also referencing there a recently lost bet by the Arizona Diamondbacks to Bridges. The Diamondbacks struck a deal with Bridges earlier this month, saying that they were going to celebrate a Mikal Bridges Appreciation Day if the Philadelphia Phillies (Bridges grew up in Philadelphia) win a three-game series. The Phillies ended up winning two games in that matchup, and apparently, Paul was not going to let an opportunity to get payback for Arizona sports fans.

It's all for fun, though, of course. Paul, Bridges, and the rest of the Suns have months to prepare for another shot at bringing an NBA championship parade to Phoenix.
