The Phoenix Suns are on the clock with the number one pick in the 2018 NBA Draft yet to be determined. On June 21st, the Suns will likely select between Arizona's Deandre Ayton and Real Madrid's Luka Doncic.
On Wednesday morning, the projected number one overall pick in Ayton was in Phoenix to meet with and work out for the Suns. GM Ryan McDonough had nothing but great things to say about the big man after his reportedly impressive workout.
“It’s a big day for the franchise in terms of having the number one pick and working out Deandre Ayton for the number one pick. Just had a phenomenal workout [with DeAndre]… It’s everything we expected.”
Following McDonough's meeting with the media, it was Ayton's turn to speak, and he made a big announcement when asked who else he plans to work out for.
“No one else. I know I'm going number one.”
Ayton averaged 20.1 points, 11.6 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.9 blocks per game on 61.2 percent shooting from the field and 34.3 percent from beyond the arc (even though he only attempted ond three per game) in his first season at Arizona.
