The Phoenix Suns did not waste any time in signing superstar Devin Booker to a new deal. Among the flurry of signings that took place right at the start of NBA free agency on Thursday includes that of the three-time All-Star on a massive $214 million max extension.
This report comes via Shams Charania of The Athletic:
The Phoenix Suns and All-NBA guard Devin Booker are finalizing a four-year, $214 million supermax contract extension that he’s set to sign as soon as next week, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Booker will also be the cover athlete for NBA 2K23, per sources.
Booker's previous deal runs out by the end of the 2023-24 season. He is set to pocket $36 million for that final year, but with new deal in place, he's going to be earning upwards of $50 million per year.
The cherry on top of the cake for Booker here is that he's also been given the honor of being the face of NBA 2K23. Only the biggest of superstars are endowed with this unique distinction, and you can't say that Book doesn't deserve it.
If there was still any doubt in your mind as to Booker's superstar status in the league, then these recent developments should erase all of them.
