Phoenix Suns owner Robert Sarver is placed under heavy scrutiny after his name got involved in a serious allegation stemming from a report by ESPN's Baxter Holmes. In the said report, Sarver was painted in a horrible light, no thanks to accusations of racism and misogyny.

Among those who shared their side of the story was former Suns coach Earl Watson, who notably recalled Sarver using the N-word on Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green. In Holmes' piece, Sarver vehemently disputed the accusations hurled at him, even questioning the credibility of Watson.

“This is absolutely untrue. I remember the game and topic clearly. I of course never used the word myself. During this conversation, I said ‘N-word' without saying the full word. The word itself never crossed my lips.”

Suns star Devin Booker has close ties with Watson. The latter was Phoenix's head coach for a couple of years. Their time spent together was enough for Booker to attest to Watson's credibility.

Watson is now an assistant coach for the Toronto Raptors, but his name will be mentioned prominently once again around the Suns' circles as this controversy drags on. The league office isn't taking this lightly, hiring an independent law firm to conduct an investigation on the matter.

This is a sad turn of events for the Suns organization and the league itself. Phoenix is bent on proving to their doubters that their run to the NBA Finals last season wasn't a fluke. Meanwhile, the NBA is celebrating a milestone season.
