Phoenix Suns wing Josh Jackson was arrested at a music festival in Miami over the weekend, according to Gina Mizell of The Athletic. He was officially charged on two counts, resisting arrest and escape, the latter of which is a felony.

The news was first broken by Andy Slater of 640 The Hurricane. Jackson was reportedly at Rolling Loud Music Festival in Miami Gardens when he tried to enter the VIP area on multiple occasions despite not having the proper pass, resulting in him being hand-cuffed by police. He subsequently fled on foot, leading to charges of resisting arrest without violence and escape.

The No. 4 overall pick of the 2017 NBA Draft, Jackson has struggled to live up to expectations during his two years in Phoenix. Billed as one of most NBA-ready prospects in his class, the University of Kansas product has been unable to make a consistently positive impact thus far, beset by a streaky jumper, poor decision-making on both ends of the floor, and a relentless playing style that he too often fails to rein in.

Jackson averaged 11.5 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 2.3 assists in 25.2 minutes per game this season, mostly coming off the bench. Though he improved from beyond the arc compared to his rookie season, he still shot just 32.4 percent on threes, development offset by his major struggles finishing at the rim – unexpected for a player of his length and athleticism.

Time is still on Jackson's side, and his rare physical gifts suggest he'll stick around the league for many years as a role player even if he's unable to become a starter. But needless to say, this latest development is hardly a step in the right direction for his career.
