Devin Booker has been the best player on the best team in the NBA this season thus far. That's enough for Kyrie Irving to crown the Phoenix Suns shooting guard as the Most Valuable Player this season.

The Nets point guard announced his pick on Twitter after Devin Booker poured in a season-high 49 points in the Suns' 140-130 win over the Denver Nuggets on Thursday night.

Unless he rips off a streak of near 50-point games to closeout the season, Devin Booker isn't likely to win the MVP award. Even the Suns star himself acknowledged it himself when Hall of Famer Isiah Thomas gave him some MVP love on Twitter as well. The Pistons legend cited Book as deserving as the leading scorer on the team with the best record in the NBA.

“Appreciate that IT but the “criteria” changes depending on players name,” said the Suns star on not being in the MVP conversation.

Devin Booker's numbers aren't as eye-popping as other guys like Joel Embiid, Nikola Jokic, and Giannis Antetokounmpo, but the wins speak volumes. The Suns have not only survived ever since Chris Paul went down with injury, they've thrived under the leadership of Devin Booker.

Phoenix has ripped off seven straight wins and are currently 12-4 in the 16 games CP3 has been on the shelf. That's a 75% win rate and still good for the best record in the NBA. Devin Booker may not win the MVP award, nor does he necessarily deserve it like Kyrie Irving and Isiah Thomas assert, but clearly needs more respect on his name after his herculean effort for the Suns this season.
