Phoenix Suns head coach Monty Williams believes point guard Ricky Rubio is going to make everyone on the team better with his unselfish play.

Rubio is one of the best passers in the game. The Suns have been looking for a point guard ever since they traded Eric Bledsoe to the Milwaukee Bucks during the 2017-18 season.

Williams is excited to see Rubio at the controls of his offense.

“We have a guy in Ricky that’s going to make everybody more efficient than they have been,” Williams said, via Duane Rankin of Arizona Central. “As a coach, you want to have someone on the floor who can manage a game from the point guard position and Ricky certainly does that for us.”

Ricky Rubio signed a three-year, $51 million contract with the Suns. He averaged 12.7 points, 3.6 rebounds and 6.1 assists this past season with the Utah Jazz while shooting 40.4 percent from the field, 31.1 percent from beyond the arc and 85.5 percent from the free-throw line.

Since entering the league back in 2011, Rubio has averaged at least 5.3 assists every season. Suns shooting guard Devin Booker can finally just focus on scoring now that he has a floor general to run the offense.

Monty Williams and Phoenix have to be thrilled they were able to get Rubio in free agency.
