Damian Lillard played through an abdomen injury during Team USA’s Tokyo Olympics run, which will require further testing upon return to the States. Lillard wanted to continue playing to help USA capture the gold medal.

In his first Olympic stint, Damian Lillard emerged as one of Team USA's top offensive weapons in Tokyo. At 31 years old, a second trip for the United States' squad may be out of the question come 2024 in Paris. Lillard's position is teeming with uber-talented young players, namely Trae Young and Ja Morant, among others.

Once fully recovered from injury, Lillard will head straight to work as the Blazers prepare for the 2021-22 season.

Though the team did re-sign Norman Powell to a new contract, Portland also lost Enes Kanter, Carmelo Anthony, Hassan Whiteside, and Zach Collins in free agency. The onus is now on the Blazers' front office to assemble a roster that would maximize the best years of Lillard and CJ McCollum.

Damian Lillard's run with Team USA somehow distracted outsiders from persistent trade rumors. However, the Blazers' superstar is about to return to his NBA reality which comes with non-stop chatter on his immediate future.
