Denver Nuggets big man JaVale McGee just had the weirdest encounter with a reporter during his latest media talk with Team USA.

In a rather rude and inappropriate question, Joe Vardon of The Athletic asked McGee if his mom is still alive. Of course, McGee was shocked by the question and had a disgusted reaction before answering that his mom is very much alive. He then pointed out to the reporter that it's a “weird” question to ask anyone–be it to a professional basketball player like him or not.

JaVale McGee certainly handled the situation really well, all while also making sure the reporter learned his lesson.

For what it's worth, though, it's not the first time Vardon irked a member of Team USA with his questions. To recall, he also got into a heated exchange with head coach Gregg Popovich for seemingly suggesting the squad should have blown up Nigeria and Australia in their pre-Olympic exhibitions.

Sure enough, the Team USA tactician didn't appreciate what he deemed as “disrespect” to other nations and went off on the veteran journalist.

Going back to McGee, the Nuggets big man made sure to reiterate on Twitter that his mom is still alive and “great”–something that shouldn't have been asked in the first place given Pamela McGee's stature and legacy in basketball and for Team USA. For those not in the know, McGee's mom won gold medal with the team in the 1984 Olympics.
