Another championship trophy and a new child will keep the Golden State Warriors' Stephen Curry out of Team USA minicamps, according to Chris Haynes of ESPN. Curry joins LeBron James as the second superstar to opt out of the minicamps, which are set to begin practice next week in Las Vegas.

Thirty-five players were selected for this minicamp, from which only 12 will be selected for the United States' 2019 FIBA World Cup Team in China and the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. Given James and Curry's extend playoff runs over the past few years, there's little surprise in them not making an appearance. Both are expected to make the final roster.

Curry has had a busy couple of weeks, going from winning his third NBA championship to the birth of his son and even the addition of a new star teammate in DeMarcus Cousins.

“It actually happened about five hours after my wife had given birth,” Curry told USA TODAY Sports by phone this week. “I was in the hospital, and I didn’t have my phone on me. My dad was there, and Bob Myers called and wanted to congratulate me and the family on the new addition. And then he said, ‘Hey, I’ve got a potential opportunity to sign DeMarcus,’ and we all looked at each other like, ‘What are you talking about?’”

Curry will get back to basketball and preparing for next season soon enough, but right now it's about the family.
