Although teams around the NFL kickstarted training camp with a 72-hour screening process for players and staff to be allowed into the practice facilities, it seems the precautions taken by the Houston Texans throughout the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic have paid some dividends.

According to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle, O'Brien claims that there has not been a single positive test for the Texans so far.

“So far, it's been good. I know it's really early. We feel really good about where we're at. We have zero positive tests. I think that's a good sign.”

This is certainly an encouraging sign for Houston considering there are a number of other teams that have been forced to put their players on the injured reserve/coronavirus list to start training camp. While the restrictions placed in response to the ongoing pandemic have offered up its own set of challenges for teams preparing for the 2020 NFL season, O'Brien can take solace in the fact that they managed to avoid any setbacks at this point in the offseason.

The Texans are now hoping that the safety protocols that have been established by the NFL and NFLPA will continue to ensure the health of players and staff throughout the course of the season. However, it is still far too early to determine whether or not the guidelines will be enough for the 2020 campaign to continue as planned. This uncertainty has already forced several high-profile stars to opt out of playing this year due to the risks involved.
