The Houston Texans suffered a huge blow in their win over the Denver Broncos when rookie wide receiver Tank Dell suffered a season-ending broken fibula.

The Texans aren't just losing one of their best players on the field, but teammates as well. For rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud, the loss of Dell for the season especially hits hard.

“It's hard to really speak about it still,” Stroud said on the Pat McAfee Show. “In those types of moments you want to go back and really go ‘dang the play before that we should've done this or did that so that didn't happen.' Right now, my prayers are still out with Tank. Tank Dell is probably my best friend on the team and we hang out all the time. I've been in constant communication with him and just trying to help him out.”

Stroud and Dell's friendship is evident when the two are on the field. This season, Stroud connected with the third-round pick on 47 receptions for 709 yards and seven touchdowns. In big moments, Dell has been a go-to guy for Stroud, particularly during their comeback against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. With less than 40 seconds left, Stroud hit Dell for a huge gain on the final drive and then the game-winning score.

Now with Dell out, the Texans will look for Nico Collins to step up. Collins has already been having a great season, as he nears 1,000 yards with 991 already. He's particularly done well the past couple weeks, posting back-to-back 100 yard games, including 191 and a touchdown versus the Broncos. The Texans will of course miss Dell, but they should hang in there with Collins playing this way.
