The Houston Texans are still working through ideal candidates for the team's head coach position. However, the opening is reportedly not generating much interest, especially with the swirling Deshaun Watson rumors, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The Texans finished the 2020 regular season with a 4-12 record. Watson played well this season despite the challenges, but it was clear that the Texans did not have enough to contend even for just a playoff berth.

As a result, the talks of Deshaun Watson being moved have started to heat up. Watson isn't due to be a free agent until 2026, as he just signed a four-year extension deal worth $156 million last September. But the reported lack of interest by the Texans to take inputs from Watson with regards to the team's search for a new head coach, despite being promised of a part in that endeavor, has compounded the frustrations of the star quarterback.

Watson's resentment towards the Texans franchise can also be traced back to when the team's traded wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins to the Arizona Cardinals.

Watson finished the season completing 70.2 percent of his passes for 4,823 yards, the highest mark of his career by far. He also threw for a career-high 33 touchdowns.

With the possibility of the 25-year old signal-caller getting shipped out of Houston, it might be time for the Texans to prepare for a contingency plan in the event that they part ways with the former Clemson Tigers star.
