The Houston Texans are filling the quarterbacks room amid all the unknowns surrounding Deshaun Watson.

Houston has acquired Ryan Finley from the Cincinnati Bengals, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, just days after signing Tyrod Taylor in free agency.

There probably isn't all that much to the transaction, frankly. Finley is more of a QB3 type, though he did make four starts for the Bengals in the last two seasons.

Still, the move is somewhat noteworthy in light of the recent lawsuits filed against Watson alleging of sexual assault, in addition to his trade demands.

The lawyer who is representing the plaintiffs in the lawsuits against Watson, Tony Buzbee, is slate to speak to the media sometime Friday afternoon. He has said there are nine total lawsuits that will be brought against Watson, with seven already filed.

Meanwhile, it still remains to be seen what is to be made of Watson's future on the field.

Texans management, including general manager Nick Casero and head coach David Culley, has been insistent the team is not even entertaining offers for Watson. But the disgruntled signal-caller has not shown any sign of budging from his trade demands.

This whole situation could take awhile to flush out. The lawsuits are on the table, and the NFL has also launched a separate investigation into the allegations against Watson.

Houston would undoubtedly prefer Taylor to be the backup quarterback with Finley holding down the third-string role. But Friday's trade provides the Texans insurance in the event they do trade Watson or should he be subject to league discipline or criminal investigation.
