The winless New York Jets keep finding ways to lose. The way they lost on Sunday was even worse than some of the darkest eras in franchise history.

John Butchko, the host of the daily Locked On Jets podcast, discussed how bad Sunday’s loss was, claiming it was darker than even the Rich Kotite era based on how awful the Jets looked while losing.

Butchko: You just could not believe your eyes. It was a failure in such spectacular ways that it did not seem possible. And I am starting to feel like the Gase era may top the Kotite era. I counted last night. I did the math. I have seen over 250 Jets losses through the years, and I do not think I have ever seen, and maybe I am forgetting one, again that’s a lot. Two hundred and fifty is a lot. It is entirely possible that I am forgetting one.

I do not think I have ever seen anything as ridiculous as Sunday’s game. Where the Jets lose on a 46-yard touchdown with five seconds left in the game. I mean. That is all you really need to know about this game. The Jets were ahead with 10 seconds to go and the Raiders had the ball at the 46-yard line. All the Jets needed to do was not give up a 46-yard touchdown on one play and they win the game. And they could not do that. And the reason they could not do that was because Gregg Williams sends a zero blitz against thee wide receivers and leaves two rookie corners, and not top picks. One of the rookie corners was a fifth-round pick and the other rookie corner that was targeted was an undrafted free agent. Then you had a safety against a wide receiver.
