The 2022 NBA trade deadline is quickly approaching, and the Philadelphia 76ers have yet to make a move regarding Ben Simmons. The point guard hasn't played for his team since the Sixers' Eastern Semifinals Game 7 loss to the Atlanta Hawks.
Refusing to suit up for a single game this season, Simmons has racked up quite a bit in fines. The 25-year-old has lost $19 million since the beginning of the 2021-2022 NBA season, but the money doesn't matter to him.
A source close to Simmons had this to say about his situation with the Sixers, quote courtesy of ESPN.

But if you believe in what you're doing, and that this is not the right situation for you, and you're trying to get to a better place, the money doesn't matter. Obviously, it's a financial hit. But you adjust.”
Simmons has made it very clear through people close to him that he will never play for Philadelphia again. For the sake of Simmons, the Sixers, and the sanity of Philadelphia fans, Daryl Morey needs to come up with a trade, and fast.
The trade deadline is less than two weeks away, and the Sixers are playing at an elite level. They are 31-19 on a five-game winning streak. Not to mention, big man Joel Embiid is having a remarkable season. It would be a crime if the Sixers wasted another year of peak talent from Embiid, who is at the top of the MVP conversation.
