Paris Saint-Germain captain Thiago Silva will sign a two-year deal with Chelsea after leaving on a free transfer this summer, according to Julien Laurens of ESPN.

Chelsea has been hard at work trying to reel in the PSG defensive talisman, who noted he would not be making any decisions on his future until after he finished the season. He played his last game with PSG on Sunday, a 1-0 loss to Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League final.

Only hours after a heartbreaking loss in Lisbon, the deal was agreed upon, though personal terms and other details are yet to be worked out. Thiago Silva is slated to speak to manager Frank Lampard on Monday once he returns to Paris from Lisbon.

The Blues are also expected to be in the running for Leicester City defender Ben Chilwell for £50 million ($65.4 million) and are closing in on the signing of Kai Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen. Not to mention the completed deals of Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech.

Favorably for Chelsea, the club won't have to pay a transfer fee for the 35-year-old Brazilian, who hopes to play at the European level for three or four years and get a chance at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Word has it PSG manager Thomas Tuchel wanted to keep him in Paris but sporting director Leonardo was against keeping an aging talent in the squad.

Silva was also offered a two-year deal by Serie A side Fiorentina but decided to venture into the Premier League instead of returning to Italy.
