Oklahoma City Thunder forward Carmelo Anthony sealed his place as one of the top-20 scorers in NBA history last night, passing Hall of Famer Jerry West for his very own place in the NBA's all-time leaderboard.

Anthony enjoyed one of his best scoring games of recent memory, scoring 23 points in 8-of-18 shooting from the field and 4-of-10 from beyond the arc.

“I just found out,” said Anthony. “Somebody just came and told me when I was sitting down, but I mean, it's an honor. I'm not gonna sit here and say that it's not.”

“It's a blessing to be in that list. Top-20. I wish it would have come with a win tonight, but aside from that… it's something that I've never ever thought of, ever dreamt of.”

This was Anthony's first 20-point game in the last seven outings — a clear decline of his high-volume scoring ways from his days with the Denver Nuggets and the New York Knicks as the No. 1 offensive option.

Despite his 17 points per game average, Anthony is one of only four players in NBA history to average 20 points or more in every season of his career, a streak that seems destined to end this season as a member of the Thunder.

Anthony has given up the milestones and the records for a chance to win, but the Thunder will be challenged plenty, as their most recent 122-112 loss to the Houston Rockets has bumped them down all the way to seventh place in the standings — forcing them to claw their way back up if they hope to earn a higher seed coming in.
