The year 2017 was quite a roller coaster ride for Carmelo Anthony. When he was asked to sum the entire 12 months up, the Oklahoma City Thunder forward simply described his year as “bittersweet.”

Just to recap Anthony’s 2017, he had spent most of the first half of the year with several highly-publicized run-ins with then-New York Knicks team president Phil Jackson, who did not hide his criticisms of Melo’s game and attitude.

Anthony was eventually able to outlast Jackson in New York, but a few months after Jackson’s departure, it was then Melo’s turn to leave the Knicks after seven seasons with the franchise. All the while, Anthony was also dealing with some significant marriage problems.

But while departing the Knicks was likely a tough experience for Anthony, he did go the Oklahoma City Thunder, which is arguably the most talented team he’s ever played with in the NBA. It took a couple of months, but Melo and the Thunder are finally playing like a team that could potentially make noise in the postseason in recent weeks.

Anthony’s 2017 may have had its share of ups and downs, but with the Thunder playing much better and the off-the-court drama finally behind him, Melo's 2018 could have a good deal more positives on the horizon.
