The college football season has returned and LSU was supposed to have a strong season once again. But, the Tigers got upset by UCLA to start the regular season and dropped out of the Top 25 ranking altogether. They then beat McNeese State, but that is a give-me game.

On Monday came some tough news for LSU as it was announced that running back John Emery Jr. was ruled out for the remainder of the season due to an academic issue, according to Patrick Magee of The Advocate.

LSU running back John Emery Jr. has been ruled academically ineligible for the remainder of the 2021 season, coach Ed Orgeron confirmed in his Monday press conference.

The junior had yet to step on the field for LSU this year and Coach O said he was “day-to-day.” Well, now he is out for the year, and this is a brutal blow to LSU, who had hoped that Emery could take the lead job out of the backfield this season.

In his absence, the Tigers will turn to Corey Kiner, Tyrion Davis-Price, and Josh Williams, among others, as they try and fill the void. The Tigers' schedule won't ease up, either, as they have Central Michigan before going deep into the depths of their SEC schedule.
