Less than a week after admitting he had never heard of Alex Rodriguez, Minnesota Timberwolves rookie Anthony Edwards hilariously had his bubble burst when told his newly acquired info on the franchise owner was already out of date. Sitting down for an interview with Tyler Tynes of GQ Sports, Edwards proudly told the reporter that not only did he now know who A-Rod was, but that he also was aware that the new owner of the Timberwolves was dating Jennifer Lopez.

It's a good thing Edwards was sitting down when Tynes had to break the bad news to him:

Edwards: “They told me he’s a Hall of Famer. Somebody told me he’s like the Michael Jordan of baseball. I feel like that’s a stretch.”

Tanes: “Oh. You didn’t watch any games or highlights to verify that with your own eyes?”

Edwards: “Nah, I ain’t watch none, nah. I know he date J-Lo [Jennifer Lopez], though!”

Tanes: “He does not.”

Edwards: “What?”

Tanes: “He used to date J-Lo, but they just broke up.”

Edwards: “Damn!”

Tanes: You look like you’re disappointed.”

Edwards: “Yeah, I am.”

Tanes: “Any reason?”

Edwards: “He gonna be my owner, I want him to be happy.”

Tanes: “You think he’s gonna be happier with J-Lo?”

Edwards: “Yeah!!”

Tanes: “When you put it that way….that doesn’t seem wrong.”

Edwards: “Yeah! Like, for sure!!”

Even if his information may not entirely be up to speed, it's hard to deny that Edwards is broadly correct in his assessment of Rodriguez both on and off the field.

Not only is the former American League MVP decidedly not the Michael Jordan of baseball — and shame on the person who made that comparison — but he would almost assuredly be happier with J-Lo in his life. While we can't claim to know to know the couple, it's undeniable that A-Rod's endless array of corny and overdone Instagram posts celebrating the two's relationship was a ready source of fun.

Actually, on second thought, maybe it's us who would be happier with the former first couple of baseball back in our lives.

Either way, we share your disappointment, Mr. Edwards.
