Minnesota Timberwolves rookie Anthony Edwards submitted his official entry for dunk of the year. Social media blew up over his disrespectful poster dunk over Toronto Raptors forward Yuta Watanabe. However, Edwards' reaction toward his nasty slam is arguably the best thing that happened for Minnesota on Friday night.

Via Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic:

If you're a Timberwolves fan, this must be music to your ears. This is definitely the kind of mentality you would want one of your franchise building blocks to have.

As Edwards mentioned, Minnesota came up short to the Toronto Raptors in a rather low-scoring affair, 86-81. Individually, the 19-year old shot just 3-of-14 from the field and missed all of his seven attempts from long range, en route to a 7 point outing.

Let's be real though. Edwards did set NBA Twitter ablaze with his eye in the sky finish. He deserves a pass for his poor shooting night just for that alone.

Many people view Edwards as the funny guy in the room due to his entertaining interviews and colorful personality. However, the Timberwolves may have found, not just a star in the making with Edwards, but someone that can create the winning culture this franchise desperately needs. With his post-game words, it shows that he has his mind in the right place and knows that winning is the most important thing.

Flashy highlights may be a temporary feel good moment — and he deservedly gave a nice smile following his Kodak moment. But it's great to see the 19-year old already show this kind of maturity this early into his career.
