Anthony Edwards just blew a Minnesota Timberwolves franchise record out of the water in what turned out to be an epic playoff debut for the young star. The 20-year-old dropped a game-high 36 points against Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies en route to setting a new franchise record for the Wolves.

Edwards' 36-point performance in Minnesota's 130-117 win over the Grizzlies in Game 1 is now the highest-scoring outing for any postseason debut in Timberwolves history (h/t Basketball Reference on Twitter):

Anthony Edwards now holds the Timberwolves record for most points scored in a playoff debut. (29 and counting) Stephon Marbury had 28 points, and the record, in his debut on April 24th, 1997.

Stephon Marbury is one of the greatest players in Timberwolves history and Edwards just blasted his record on Saturday night. In case you were wondering, Kevin Garnett dropped 21 points in his playoffs debut for Minnesota, while Kevin Love scored 19 in his first postseason appearance.

More importantly for the Timberwolves, they just pulled off a Game 1 upset against the second-seeded Grizzlies in Memphis. By drawing first blood, the Wolves have now put themselves in a tremendous position to come out of this first-round series.
