Minnesota Timberwolves point guard Derrick Rose will make his return to the lineup on Friday at home against the Dallas Mavericks.

Rose has missed the last six games due to a right ankle sprain he suffered on Dec. 28 versus the Atlanta Hawks.

In 32 games this season for the Timberwolves, Derrick Rose is averaging 18.9 points, 2.8 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game. The former league MVP is shooting 48.6 percent from the field, a career-high 46.2 percent from beyond the arc and 83.8 percent from the free-throw line.

The Timberwolves are 20-21 on the season, good for 10th place in the Western Conference standings. Minnesota is currently on a three-game winning streak.

Jeff Teague is back in the starting lineup for the Timberwolves, so Rose will return to his sixth-man role. Rose was starting for Minnesota at the point guard spot while Teague was out with left ankle inflammation.

Friday night will be Ryan Saunders' first game at home as head coach. Minnesota fired Tom Thibodeau on Sunday and named Saunders as his replacement. Ryan is the son of the late Flip Saunders, who spent 11 seasons with the franchise. Minnesota defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday in Saunders' debut.

Derrick Rose has the second-highest usage rate on the team behind All-Star big man Karl-Anthony Towns. It's going to be interesting to see how Saunders uses Rose now that Thibodeau is gone.
