We're already in week two of the regular season, and up until today, there seems to be no clear resolution in sight for all the drama surrounding Jimmy Butler and the Minnesota Timberwolves. Nonetheless, both parties are still keen on pursuing a trade, and a new timetable has reportedly been put on the table.

According to Malika Andrews of ESPN, the team has recently spoken to Butler and have given him the assurance that trading him away still remains to be a top priority for the team. However, given how there are currently no viable options available, serious trade talks are expected to be revived within a month or so.

“Owner Glen Taylor has assured Butler that the team is continuing to seek out a trade for him, and there has been a belief that the organization would seriously revisit trade talks 10 to 15 games into the season, league sources said,” wrote Andrews.

Several trade offers have emerged for Butler, with the latest coming from the Houston Rockets. However, the Wolves were apparently unhappy with the offer from the Rockets and have decided to look elsewhere for a resolution.

It appears that this has been the theme in all this. With Butler publicly announcing his desire to jump ship, opposing teams have pounced on the opportunity and have been submitting sub-par trade proposals (at least in the eyes of the Wolves front office).

The fact that the Wolves have provided a new and extended timetable is quite interesting. Are they now open to the possibility of keeping Butler on if he is somehow able to resolve his issues within the next 10 to 15 games? This is certainly a story worth monitoring as the next chapter of this bizarre saga unfolds right before our eyes.
