The Minnesota Timberwolves made a flurry of moves leading up to the NBA trade deadline on Thursday. Earlier in the week, they traded Robert Covington to the Houston Rockets. Then, just ahead of the deadline, they traded Andrew Wiggins to the Golden State Warriors and Gorgui Dieng to the Miami Heat. Afterward, Karl-Anthony Towns took to Instagram to post a heartfelt goodbye to his now-former teammates:

“Want to take the time to thank my brothas that not only made me a better player but better person,” wrote Towns. “To Wiggs and G, you held me down ever since I stepped through the doors of minny and can’t thank you enough for being there with me when I needed y’all the most. I got love and respect for you. All love to everyone and praying for success. #AllEyesNorth”

Towns has made it very clear that he has not been happy with his current situation in Minnesota, so the Timberwolves did everything they could to appease him at the deadline, mainly in the form of bringing in D'Angelo Russell in the deal that sent Wiggins to the Golden State Warriors. Russell is one of Towns' best friends, and this past summer, the Wolves pushed to acquire him before the Warriors ultimately landed him.

The Timberwolves desperately needed some sort of change.

Expected by many to contend for a playoff spot in the Western Conference this year, Minnesota is just 15-35 on the season and has lost 13 games in a row.

Towns and Co. will take on the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday night.
