The Minnesota Timberwolves are going with a two-center lineup in the hopes of improving next season after acquiring Rudy Gobert. The blockbuster trade pairs the Defensive Player of the Year with Karl-Anthony Towns.

Playing two centers at a time is often very hard to pull off. The fit between Towns and Gobert should work, though, since Towns is one of the very best shooters in the league, can handle the ball and has shown some impressive passing skills.

Many basketball fans on Twitter joked that Towns will now be playing shooting guard next to Gobert. He replied to a tweet saying that he will be tasked with more ball-handling and shot-creating now that he is playing with a true center.

Having a center as skilled as Karl-Anthony Towns has always been beneficial for Minnesota. His scoring repertoire is among the very best in the league, especially among centers. If he wasn't as good as he is at handling and shooting the ball, they may not have traded for Gobert at all. Fortunately, the Timberwolves can accommodate two very efficient scorers that play the same position.

Towns' new role as a more perimeter-based scorer should not be a problem. What might be is his defense. Can he hold his own on the perimeter now that Gobert will be in the middle? That will be the biggest question during Minnesota's season.

The Timberwolves traded a lot to land the defensive stalwart. They are hoping that the trio of Anthony Edwards, Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert can help them become more of a contender in the Western Conference.
