Now entering his fifth season in the NBA, Minnesota Timberwolves superstar Karl-Anthony Towns is looking to firmly establish himself as one of the best players in the entire league. Recently, the 23-year-old opened up about the type of impact 15-time All-Star and Timberwolves legend Kevin Garnett has had on his own career.

According to Towns, he considers Garnett to be his mentor, and is very appreciative of all that he has learned from the future Hall of Famer.

“I’m very fortunate that I got a vet like him because many times, a lot of NBA players tell stories about the vets they had and how they were very detrimental to their career and they had to find their way out themselves,” Towns said, via Martin Rickman of Uproxx. “I’ve been very fortunate that I’ve had a lot of benefits from having KG as a mentor and as like an OG. So I’ve learned a lot and I have learned a lot more things through him that I’ve learned through coaches, but just different mindset is the stuff.”

Towns went on to say that aside from the wealth of knowledge he gained from a legend like Garnett, he also considers his own life experiences to be the greatest teacher.

“But I think that the biggest teacher in life I’ve ever had was life itself,” Added Towns. “I’ve learned a lot just from experience and going through this life that fans just don’t understand, and I’ve been very fortunate to open up and do different things, aka playing this pro am and open my gaming world up to more fans.”

Despite his hectic schedule, Towns still finds time to kick back every once in a while, and his recent participation in a Call of Duty Pro Am is a testament to the same. As it turns out, it isn't just a computer game for Towns, as he considers this hobby to be another continuous learning experience for him.
