The Minnesota Timberwolves emerged from the 2014 and 2015 NBA Drafts with two young players believed to be core pieces for the franchise's future: Karl-Anthony Towns and Zach LaVine. Towns and LaVine, along with Andrew Wiggins, who arrived in Minnesota via a trade from the Cleveland Cavaliers, looked like one of the more promising trios in the league. However, it was not meant to be, as Wiggins and LaVine were ultimately traded from the Timberwolves, leaving Towns as the last man standing from that young core. However, Towns and his two young teammates had a plan, now unfulfilled, to put Minnesota back on the basketball map, as reported by The Athletic.
The three young princes of the Timberwolves had it all planned out. Karl-Anthony Towns, Zach LaVine and Andrew Wiggins had the neighborhood picked out where they would set down roots, houses close enough so they could walk to each other’s door as they plotted how to put Minnesota basketball back on the map. Together.
Karl-Anthony Towns, Zach LaVine and Andrew Wiggins had it all planned out. Towns even spoke of how he and his two Timberwolves teammates talked about buying houses in the same cul-de-sac so they could continue to build their chemistry together.

Towns, LaVine and Wiggins believed they could propel the Timberwolves to a title, only, the business aspect of the NBA set in. LaVine was traded to the Chicago Bulls in a package centered around Jimmy Butler. Wiggins was shipped to the Golden State Warriors for D'Angelo Russell.
The vision was gone just as quickly as it had arisen. However, this past NBA All-Star weekend was a chance for Towns, LaVine and Wiggins to remember their Timberwolves roots together as members of Team Durant.
