One of the most memorable manifestations of real beef between two NBA players has got to be when Patrick Beverley forcefully shoved Chris Paul from behind in the dying moments of Game 6 of last year's Western Conference Finals. Beverley, who now plies his trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves, had grown sick and tired of CP3's antics that it came to a point that he just had to unleash all of his anger on his nemesis.

In case you have no idea about what I'm talking about here, or if you just want to relive that unforgettable encounter then here it is for your viewing pleasure:

Based on this clip alone it's easy to assume that Beverley is nothing more than an unsportsmanlike and immature child who couldn't handle losing. Well, there's actually much more to this than what meets the eye.

Beverley has now spilled the beans on his long-time beef with Paul. The Timberwolves guard was a guest on JJ Redick's The Old Man & the Three podcast and he took the opportunity to share the real score between himself and the point god:

“You know Chris,” Beverley started. “People don't understand, me and Chris, what we have has been going on since I was in high school. I see a lot of people don't know the backstory but me and Chirs we clearly understand the backstory.

“So I got invited into a LeBron James camp. You know, the big Nike LeBron James camp when we was in college. … You on a certain team, you get to play against LeBron. I think OJ Mayo was there. Chris Paul was there. I killed them. Destroyed them in front of every f—-n' NBA scout out there. I'm a sophomore in f—-n' college I'm going at them every f—-n' play, I'm calling them a child. And then I see him in the NBA. So of course the energy's gonna roll over to the NBA.”

It is clear that Beverley and Paul go way back. Apparently, these two have been butting heads since they were teenagers. They are two of the most competitive individuals you can ever come across and naturally, they clash whenever they see each other on the basketball court.

The Timberwolves vet then dropped a bit of a truth bomb about Chris Paul. According to Pat Bev, CP3 isn't as upstanding as most people would assume:

“Chris he done slick s–t,” Beverley told Redick. “People don't know that's a little dity motherf—-r, man. Chris know that too, man. I know you don't want to say but I'll say it for you, though. I know he was your teammate.”

Even JJ Redick started laughing as Beverley made his statement as if to say that he too is well aware of his ex-Clippers teammates' rather unscrupulous ways.

In spite of their long-standing feud, however, Beverley did admit that he holds Paul in very high regard. Pat Bev appreciates what CP3 has done for the game and he did not hesitate to give the Suns star his flowers.

“I love CP bro,” Beverley admitted. “I love what he brings to the game. He changed the game also. You gotta give him all his props. But he knows how to finesse the system, too. You gotta give him credit for that, too.”

That's so on-brand for Patrick Beverley. He heaped praise on Paul, but he just couldn't end on a positive note. He just had to reiterate his argument about CP3 being a dirty player. Classic Pat Bev.
