Philadelphia 76ers stud Jimmy Butler was greeted with a host of boos on Saturday as he made his return to his former stomping ground. The Minneosta Timberwolves were hosting the Sixers, and the home crowd made sure that Butler knew how they felt about him.

However, Wolves head coach Ryan Saunders was pure class as he refused to join in on the heckling, and instead, stated that he only hopes the best for Butler and his future.

“I’ve always said you need to base your opinions and your relationships off interactions you’ve had as an individual with somebody,” head coach Ryan Saunders said, via Mike Krawzcynski of The Athletic. “Other things can come into play at times. It’s going to be how people treat you as an individual. … Obviously, you know, we wish him well.”

Butler made headlines a couple of months back when he forced a move away from Minnesota in the most dramatic of fashions. The Wolves faithful are apparently not the type to easily forget, and they made it abundantly clear that they felt zero gratitude towards the former Most Improved Player of the Year winner whatsoever.

Nonetheless, it was Butler and the Sixers who would come out on top in this one, 118-109. For his part, though, Butler appeared to have been somewhat affected by all the jeers, as he turned in a forgettable performance in front of his his former home crowd. The 29-year-old struggled with his shot all evening long, recording only 12 points on a horrid 4-of-17 shooting, along with a three-pointer, 13 rebounds, five assists, two steals, and a couple of turnovers in 36 minutes of action.
