The Minnesota Timberwolves have gotten out to a respectable start to the season currently holding the fourth-best record in the Western Conference through the first 32 games of the season.

However, this early-season success hasn't featured much of a contribution from veteran guard Shabazz Muhammad who has found his playing time significantly dwindle down in the process. All of this has led to a boiling over of frustration from Muhammad to publicly voice that he believes that he deserves playing time, according to Jace Frederick of the Twin Cities Pioneer Press.

“This league is about opportunity, and if you’re not getting your opportunity, then it sucks,” Muhammad said. “You’re sitting, and I believe I should be playing, so it’s pretty frustrating.”

The 25-year-old has been out of the rotation for the last couple of weeks having not played in the last nine straight games while recording DNPs in 10 of the last 11 games played. It has pushed his averages to just 4.0 points on 38.5 percent shooting in just 11.2 minutes per contest in 22 appearances.

Muhammad had decided to return to the team on a two-year, $3,3 million deal late in the offseason instead of choosing to join the Los Angeles Lakers. What should also be noted is that it does include a player option worth $1.7 million that could allow him to test the open market next summer.

That said, it clearly hasn't worked as his porous play has put him essentially out of the rotation through the first quarter of the regular season. There is still plenty of the season left to play, but it is a developing situation that could lead to the Timberwolves addressing it at some point in the near future.
