Minnesota Timberwolves power forward Taj Gibson says people don't give small forward Andrew Wiggins enough credit for the amount of work he puts in on the basketball floor.

After the Timberwolves defeated the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday at Target Center, Gibson told reporters that Wiggins is always in the gym late at night when he's there, working on his game and trying to improve.

“Like I said before, he's been in the gym, late at night,” Gibson said. “I come in the gym late at night, he’s there. 11 o’clock, sometimes 12. Just really trying to focus on his game and put forth the effort. It shows how hungry he is and people don’t give him enough credit.”

Through 21 games this season, Andrew Wiggins is averaging 15.6 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. The former No. 1 overall pick is shooting 38.9 percent from the field, 37.4 percent from beyond the arc and 71.4 percent from the free-throw line.

For a guy who is making over $25 million this year, those numbers won't cut it. Wiggins needs to be more efficient from the floor and aggressive. Instead of settling for tough contested jumpers, the 23-year-old should use his speed and athleticism to get to the basket and put pressure on opposing defenses.

Wednesday night against the Hornets, Andrew Wiggins had the type of game he needs to have every night. He finished with 26 points, six rebounds and five assists and helped the Timberwolves improve to 13-12 on the season. Wiggins shot an efficient 11-of-19 from the field as well.
