The Minnesota Timberwolves have won five straight games and have climbed into the playoff chase. Following another tough start to the season, the TWolves were not expected to make any noise. Sadly, they received not so good news on point guard Patrick Beverley Friday.

According to the St. Paul Pioneer Press TWolves reporter Jace Frederick, it might be a while before we see Beverley back on the court.

Beverley was injured Wednesday night early in the game against the Miami Heat. It was initially reported that the injury was not overly serious and that he was questionable for Friday with a left adductor strain. Clearly, the injury is more serious than originally reported.

The TWolves' D'Angelo Russell runs point for the starting unit, with Beverley starting their two point guard lineup. But Beverley's calming veteran presence and defensive prowess will be missed nonetheless.

Minnesota has been on a tear of late, winning five straight and coming off the best win of the season vs Miami. The emergence of Anthony Edwards this season has vaulted the TWolves into playoff consideration.

Beverley was averaging just over eight points per game, to go along with 4.4 rebounds and 4.5 assists. With Beverley out of the lineup for the foreseeable future, shooting guard Malik Beasley will need to pick up the slack. Beasley scored 29 points in the win vs the Heat after Beverley went down with the injury.

So, it's a good start for him but the Timberwolves will need him to keep it up.
