Following the stunning firing of Gersson Rosas by the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday, plenty of reports and rumors are already circulating as to who could take over as the next team president.
According to Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report, the new owners set to take the Timberwolves over in a couple of years, Alex Rodriguez and Marc Lore, are pretty smitten on Philadelphia 76ers general manager Elton Brand.
Brand seems pretty cemented in and is really well-regarded in the Sixers' organization. But who's to say he wouldn't view the Timberwolves opportunity as a better gig for him personally?
It's super premature to speculate on Brand specifically but names will certainly be hurled out left and right with the Timberwolves firing Rosas a month before the regular season opener.
The timing is super bizarre and Rosas seemed to just be swinging things in the direction he had preferred them to be going.
He was crucial in the trade that sent D'Angelo Russell to the Timberwolves, he hand-selected his choice at head coach mid-season last year when he brought on Chris Finch and he was a key deciding factor in Minnesota taking Anthony Edwards with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft.
The move comes at a very inopportune time but perhaps Timberwolves ownership wanted to sweep it away now if there truly were that many disagreements between the front office and ownership in Minnesota.
