Woj. Shams. And now, Hillrat. You definitely haven't heard that name before, but it looks like this random Twitter user might just be the next big NBA insider. At least when it comes to Minnesota Timberwolves news, that is. News of general manager Gersson Rosas' dismissal came out today, via a press release from the Timberwolves.
Whoever this Twitter user is prophetically called the recent firing over a month ago on August 5th, 2021. At the time, there were absolutely no rumors of Gersson Rosas being on the hot seat. In fact, he even facilitated the trade that brought Patrick Beverley to the Timberwolves.
According to this Twitter user, who seemingly came out of nowhere, the sudden departure of Rosas' stems from the high-ranking executive having ‘an affair with his executive assistant.' Hillrat claims he knew about it all along, and here's his tweet from August 5 to prove it:
Hillrat dropped this truth bomb while commenting on an article from The Athletic that tackled the journey Alex Rodriguez and Marc Lore took to become the new owners of the Minnesota Timberwolves franchise. At that time, nobody suspected that Minnesota was going to fire Rosas. Well, Hillrat knew.
If you check out Hillrat's Twitter bio, it says that he's a small business owner, that they love BBQ, and ‘know more about sports than you do.' Well, at the moment, this out-of-the-blue dismissal would make a lot of sense if this rumor was to be confirmed.
Either way, the Timberwolves now move on from Gersson Rosas with their new interim general manager, Sachin Gupta. According to Front Office Sports, Gupta has a computer science degree from MIT, an MBA from Stanford, and is the developer of ESPN's famous ‘NBA Trade Machine.'
