Earlier this month, it was reported that the Minnesota Timberwolves are confident that a deal will be struck soon between the team and Andrew Wiggins, to retain his services for the coming years. However, the contract on the table is still left unsigned, and the Canadian international even said last weekend that there’s no rush to ink his name on it.

When asked to give his thoughts about it, head coach Tom Thibodeau said, via Jerry Zgoda of the Star Tribune, that he remains positive that it will be done soon, and that Wiggins will continue his budding career in Minneapolis.

Since entering the league back in 2014, the 22-year-old Kansas product has proven that he deserves to be a former top overall pick. He has increased his scoring average in each of the past three seasons, and produced 23.6 points to along with 4.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.3 steals per game last year.

Together with Karl Anthony-Towns, Jimmy Butler, and Jeff Teague, he is expected to be one of the Timberwolves’ cornerstones in the coming years. The team has already had a very successful summer bringing in a lot of talent to their fold, and should they be able to extend Wiggins, it would be the perfect ending to their offseason, allowing them to all focus on making serious noise in the Western Conference starting this season.
